The government has decided to appoint former finance secretary Fazle Kabir as the Bangladesh Bank governor.
Kabir will replace Atiur Rahman, who resigned Tuesday morning over
the cyber heist to which the Bangladesh Bank has lost over $80 million
from its Federal Reserve account in the US.
Finance Minister AMA
Muhith told reporters at his office that Kabir, who is now chairman of
the state-owned Sonali Bank’s board, will be the new chief of the
central bank.
